Precision above the clouds

Mar 28, 2018

When the last SWISS-ordered Boeing 777-300ER leaves the factory in Everett, USA, that’s a big deal. The “Triple 7” did not fly to Zurich empty, but was well filled with press, travel agents and customers. Stefan Weber, Vice President of REGO-FIX AG was also on board.

Five years after the start of the project and two years after the first machine arrived in Switzerland, the tenth “Triple 7” for SWISS rolled on the runway in Everett. Two days before this temporary last overpass the big event had started.

The guests met in Seattle to enjoy the views from the Space Needle before heading to Everett. Once there they visited Bucher Aerospace and the Boeing factory. Stefan Weber was impressed: “The sightseeing of the large assembly halls of Boeing – the largest building in the world – was fantastic.” A Boeing 777 consists of 3 million individual parts. Precision parts place high demands on production and accuracy – Requirements, that REGO-FIX meets successfully since many years in Everett.

Then it was -finally- Tuesday, the 13th of March. The SWISS acceptance team and the guests checked in, with handwritten, simple paper tickets in the brand-new Boeing. The very first suitcases were placed in the shelves, the first time passengers took place in the spacious leather seats of First and Business Class.

Shortly before arriving in Zurich, the technical pilot Yves Dissler deviated from the route and flew a deep arc over the Alps. The guests, who searched quickly for a window seat, could enjoy a beautiful view of the Matterhorn, Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau and the Alps. The highlight of the flight was accompanied by two F / A-18s of the Swiss Air Force. The jets flew very close to the “Triple 7” for a few minutes, giving the flying fans a fantastic view. For Stefan Weber it was an unforgettable experience.
