M95 Machining – a machine shop located in Hayward, California – is run completely by owner and founder, Melissa Ramos. Using a corner space of her dad’s fabrication shop, Melissa has gone from no machining experience to running her own machining business and fine-tuning her expertise to what it is today. Primarily serving a variety of industries as a turnaround job shop, Melissa’s company takes pride in providing low-volume, prototype machining with quick lead times. However, as the only person who runs the business and the shop, she needed a tooling solution that could provide reliability, repeatability and quick results that didn’t affect overall quality.
After meeting the REGO-FIX team at IMTS 2024, Melissa knew there was potential in the powRgrip product line and within working with us. Being a small job shop with just herself on the shop floor, she was grateful when REGO-FIX reached out and expressed interest in partnering with her company – no matter her shop size – and how we could provide a range of training videos and resources that made learning how to use each product we offer that much easier. Our consistent communication also provided her with the answers she needed, when she needed them, and provided a variety of solutions with the tools she already obtained versus having to buy a new product.
Melissa loves using the powRgrip toolholding system for a few reasons – for one, she appreciates its quick functionality by tool setting in less than 10 seconds. This saves her a lot of time and energy on the shop floor and increases her overall production time. She also appreciates the safety of the no-heat tool setting and can trust having other workers or family members in her shop without having to worry about serious injuries caused by shrink fitting. Even though there might be cheaper toolholding options, Melissa stressed that she always makes her money back through the reliability and repeatability of her cutting tools being securely set with minimal runout or vibration. Additionally, she’s more confident in making taller, larger parts, and because of this, she’s able to expand her production to more than just low-volume, small workpieces.
Melissa thoroughly enjoys the flexibility of the REGO-FIX website with our Product Finder tool. “As a machinist that spends odd hours of the day in the shop, this makes the process of finding what I need so much easier,” Melissa noted. “I work crazy hours, so the flexibility of this online tool makes securing the products and dimensions I need at any given time much more obtainable.”
Melissa hopes to keep her partnership with REGO-FIX growing for years to come and to experiment with other aspects of REGO-FIX toolholding outside of our ER collet and powRgrip toolholding lines. She appreciates the communication and education that REGO-FIX provides her business and the consistent support for her one-woman shop.
